Global X
Financial data systems and investor-facing infrastructure for a $130B+ asset manager
I built systems to deliver accurate, real-time investment data to Global X’s public platform, where clarity and correctness directly impact investor decisions.
Overview
Global X is an asset management firm overseeing more than $130 billion in assets.
In collaboration with Hart & Vine, I improved and extended the systems that deliver investment data across Global X’s public platform.
This work sat at the intersection of financial data, product design, and engineering, translating complex financial instruments into interfaces that investors rely on to make decisions.
Mission-Critical Systems
I implemented systems delivering high-stakes financial data and insights to investors—where accuracy, clarity, and timeliness are non-negotiable.
What Was Built
- Data pipelines: Extended and refined pipelines for reliable ingestion and transformation of financial data
- Custom visualizations: Built bespoke visualizations for complex financial products
- Full-stack implementation: Aligned backend data systems with frontend presentation
- SVG animations: Implemented complex SVG animations for high-visibility surfaces, including the home page
The platform supports a wide range of financial instruments, many of which require tailored representations to accurately communicate their structure and behavior.
Key Contributions
Bespoke visualization for complex financial products
Certain investment structures, such as collar strategy ETFs, require precise, purpose-built representations.
Generic charting approaches were insufficient for communicating these accurately, requiring custom solutions aligned to the underlying financial logic.
Design–engineering alignment
A significant part of the work involved translating high-quality design concepts from the Hart & Vine team into production systems.
This required careful interpretation of both the financial models and the intended user experience to ensure the final output was both correct and intuitive.
Consistency under evolving data requirements
Financial datasets and product structures evolve over time.
The system needed to accommodate variation without introducing fragility or inconsistencies in how data was presented.
Engineering Approach
- Worked across the full stack to align data processing with frontend representation
- Extended and refined existing data pipelines to improve reliability and adaptability
- Built flexible systems capable of handling varied financial data models
- Implemented precise, custom visual outputs where accuracy and clarity were critical
In this environment, correctness is not just a technical concern. It directly impacts how investors interpret financial products.
Collaboration
This was a close collaboration with the Hart & Vine team, who brought a high level of design and product thinking to the project.
My role focused on translating those ideas into working systems, while contributing to technical decisions and implementation across the stack.
Result
Data Visualization and Delivery at a $130B Scale
A production system delivering accurate, high-stakes financial insights to investors at scale for a $130B+ asset manager.
